All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. -Walt Disney
I love dreaming the big dreams. Sometimes I get stuck in the dreaming process, and I get frustrated when my dreams don’t seem to be getting any closer to reality.
Over the years, friends and colleagues have helped me ground my dreams by encouraging me to set goals starting at the finish line and working my way backwards. This ‘backward’ planning becomes a helpful outline to establish the ‘whats’ and ‘whens’ of moving forward. The outline remains flexible, because LIFE HAPPENS – right?!
Try planning backwards. You can use any dream or goal to create an outline by using the following suggested questions as a guide:
What is your big dream/goal?
What is the time frame of your goal? (ex: 4 months)
What do you need to be doing in 3 months to accomplish your goal?
What do you need to be doing in 2 months?
What do you need to be doing in 1 month?
What do you need to be doing in 3 weeks?
What do you need to be doing THIS week?
